The RailPros Field Services management team includes many former railroad employees with specialized expertise and an astute understanding of the way railroads operate. All members of the management team have vast experience guiding various projects from concept and engineering to construction and operation. Each team member is skilled and knowledgeable in managing, designing, and constructing projects while under active railroad traffic; thus, making sure there is minimal disruption of rail service.   • Johnny Johnson, PE
    President

    Mr. Johnny Johnson has almost 40 years of project experience in freight, port, and passenger railroad planning, engineering, construction, and maintenance. He has held numerous senior-level management positions with freight and passenger railroads and railroad consulting firms. Johnny has managed a wide range of planning and design projects, including track design, track upgrades, capacity improvements, and planning studies. His clients include:

    – Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF)

    – Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR)

    – Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain)

    – Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA)

    – North County Transit District (NCTD) Amtrak

    – Port of Long Beach

    Johnny is affiliated with private and public railroad organizations throughout the U.S. and actively participates in railroad engineering associations. He is an experienced track designer with a singular understanding of railroad operations, track construction and maintenance, and intermodal terminal issues.

    Mr. Eric Hankinson has 24 years of railroad, structural, and civil engineering experience, including the design, construction, and project management of a wide range of transportation projects including track construction, bridges, grade crossings, grade separations, drainage projects, stations, and other railroad facilities. Eric, has dealt extensively with project stakeholders, resource agencies, and host railroads in the planning, design, and construction of various rail projects. He has provided engineering services for such clients as:

    – Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR)

    – Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF)

    – Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA)

    Senior Vice President

    Kendall (Ken) Koff  is teh RPFS’ Senior Vice President with over 30 years of railroad experience, including extensive railroad management experience with both Class I and regional railroads. He is an expert in railroad engineering, having led hundreds of projects involving bridges, yards, tunnels, and other facilities. Additionally, he has experience directing company operations having served in a variety of senior operating roles. He most recently worked with Omnitrax as Senior Vice President, Engineering and Capital Projects.

    Ken is focused on managing our existing operations and will support the ongoing expansion into several market sectors.

    Mr. Jason Barton serves as Assistant Vice President- Construction Management and brings  over 24 years of various engineering experience. Jason’s extensive rail experience includes Construction Management, Project Controls, Utility Coordination, and Railway Systems Engineering contracts to the BNSF Railway, Union Pacific Railroad, various short-line railroads in Texas as well as Houston Metro.  At RailPros Field Services,  Jason will be working closely with RPFS management team to develop and implement strategies that quickly identify opportunities for pursuits, staffing projects, as well as encourage cross-selling that will ultimately bring new opportunities to further our ongoing expansion into several market sectors.

    Jim’s unique qualifications come directly from a 30 year career working for Union Pacific Railroad. Through effective management of projects and relationships he has built throughout his career, Jim has continuously delivered successful projects. Jim has a range of skills which include negotiating agreements, understanding railroad operations and railroad processes, freight and commuter interaction, track design, public crossing design, Class 1 engineering standards, UPRR passenger station standards, crossing closures, litigation, and quiet zones. Jim’s experience gives him the knowledge to keep projects on track and moving forward.

    Mr. John Yarbrough has extensive industry experience with over 35 years of freight railroad construction, freight track and yard design, light rail, and commuter rail experience as well as project management, construction management, planning, business development, communication systems integration into operating programs, signals and train operation analysis, and transportation studies. He has accomplished corridor evaluations and has a thorough understanding of FRA requirements for all classes of freight and passenger tracks.

    John has been extensively involved in expansion projects with an emphasis on condition assessment, construction expansions of existing infrastructures, assessments for mobility improvements on shared corridors, new track construction for freight lines, final design reviews, and track modification to enhance the ability to operate more efficiently with homeland security knowledge influencing design modifications.

    Ms. Jennifer Kazner joined the team in 2011 and currently manages the daily field operations for RPFS. She makes sure client’s project staff needs are met and that field staff have the tools they need for each project. Jennifer works with project managers to address any issues that may arise. Her management background and strong organizational skills keep RailPros Field Services moving forward.

    For more than 10 years, Mr. Kyle Hawthorn has served in the railroad industry. He has worked extensively with such railroads as the Kansas City Southern, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and Metrolink. He possesses an
    in depth understanding of railroad construction and jobsite protocol, and is an expert in railroad safety and operations.

    Mr. Kory Taylor is the Rail Pros Field Service’s Director of Intermodal and Facility Engineering. He has extensive industry experience with over 15 years of railroad construction, line expansion, intermodal and automotive yard design, grade separations, fueling facilities and platforms, capital facility replacement and maintenance, and program management. His experience also includes project management and oversight, business development and planning, intermodal and hub operations, construction management, service design, long and short term budget planning, operational analysis, maintenance of way, and transportation studies. He has a thorough understanding of FRA requirements for all classes of freight and passenger tracks, operating rules and regulations, port operations and facilities, and intermodal planning across the Class I system. Kory’s clients include:

    •  Port of Houston
    •  Port of Long Beach
    •  Union Pacific (UP)

    Kory has been involved with expansion projects of all kinds with an emphasis on condition assessment, expansion of existing infrastructures, greenfield expansion, assessments of new and existing infrastructure, new track construction for freight lines, design reviews, track modifications, and realignment to enhance the ability to operate more efficiently. His primary focus is managing intermodal, automotive, terminal, and facility design projects.
