    Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Design various rail/transit civil engineering projects
    • Perform Alignment, drainage, and earthwork design using AutoCAD, Microstation, InRail
    • Prepare rail and civil plans for freight, commuter, and transit projects
    • Work closely with project managers to execute project deliverables.
    • 10-20 years’ experience
    • Railroad Track Design – Strongly preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required, PE preferred

    RailPros has an immediate need for Advanced Mobile Flaggers to work in and around the Washington D.C. area.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Report to various work assignments and provide the AMF function under the direction of the Contract Project Manager
    • Participate in job briefings
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall participate in all Roadway Job Safety Briefings prior to performing their duties as AMF Flagging Staff
    • Perform AMF functions in the rail right-of-ways, to ensure the general safety and protection of WMATA employees and property, public, and third-party employees
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall provide warning to personnel within the working limits of approaching rail vehicles, in ample time to allow personnel to clear to or remain in a place of safety.
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall raise the change flag above their head as a visual signal to personnel of an approaching hazard.
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall hold the change flag above their head until the train, rail vehicle, equipment or hazard has left the work zone.
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall provide warning to personnel within the working limits of approaching rail vehicles, in ample time to allow personnel to clear to or remain in a place of safety.
    • AMF Flagging Staff needing to signal trains or rail equipment to proceed shall face oncoming traffic to be flagged once the RWIC authorizes rail vehicle movement through the work zone and shall give the proceed signal by moving their arm straight up and down in a vertical motion. No proceed signal shall be given if the tracks are not clear for traffic.
    • AMF Flagging Staff needing to signal trains or rail equipment to STOP shall face the oncoming traffic to be flagged and shall stop a train or rail vehicle by waving their arm back and forth horizontal to the tracks. The Watchman/Lookout shall continue this action until the train or rail equipment comes to a complete stop.
    • An AMF Flagging Staff member needing to signal trains or rail equipment to Slow Down shall slow down the train or rail vehicle, on either track, by extending their arm horizontal to the track. The arm must be fully extended with the hand clutched into a fist.
    • AMF Flagging Staff shall be used, at all times, when trains or rail equipment is moving or can potentially move through the working limits.
    o Provide warnings of trains past a point of track
    o Advise workforce when the work site/track area can be accessed or needs to be cleared
    o Check all clearances prior to and during train movements
    o Report all accidents and safety violations to the AMF Supervisor or WMATA PM
    o Communicate via radio or cell phone with Contractor and WMATA personnel

    • Must pass Level 1 Road Worker Protection training
    • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination including a drug and alcohol test
    • Ability to complete work under time pressures and to maintain composure under stress of emergency situations

    • Commonly used tools and equipment weigh 15 to 90 pounds and will often be handled multiple times throughout the day.
    • Many RWIC assignments require walking or standing for extended periods.
    • RWIC assignments may require travel away from home for varying lengths of time.
    • The position is on-call as needed and hours worked will vary.
    • Maintain safety credentials and actively participate in routine reoccurring safety classes and qualification training.
    • Submit daily work reports using a tablet that accurately depict what occurred on the jobsite and train passage through the jobsite each day. Complete other reports as may be required.
